One aspect of "Growing together" means taking responsibility for using natural resources in the most effective way possible. This allows us to continue expanding in a safer, sustainable way. To that end, we have implemented environmentally friendly technologies at our plants and mills. Greener is better at Nuqul. It makes good business sense to use resources efficiently. Waste eats profit, as well as polluting the environment; our responsibility is to leave a cleaner environment for future generations. We feel a responsibility to address these issues now, to improve the environment, and to recycle and conserve whenever possible. This is our belief, and it is fast showing itself as an excellent choice.
In all our paper mills we ensure that environmental care has been taken at all points along the production chain. We only import pulp sourced from renewable forests, we greatly reduced mills’ water intake from 10-15 m3 per one ton of paper production to 6-6.5m3/ton. In 2007, our “Zero Water Discharge project” began treating 1500 m3/day of industrial waster water recycling it back into the manufacturing process. We treat our plants’ water and reuse it for irrigation. We are also reducing our CO2 emissions and producing cleaner energy by using co-generation plant in Egypt with another one planned to open in Jordan this year.
