Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate social responsibility is a major focus for Nuqul Group, allowing us to create a an impactful model to be emulated elsewhere. Empowering our community has been a motivating value for us from the very beginning, emphasizing our philosophy of “Growing Together.” Not only does this allow our employees to come together through social development, it emphasizes that if people come first within the Group, they should come first outside as well. We want to create change in the right way, making a strong impact and difference which equips our beneficiaries with the tools for long-term, sustainable transformations with the emphasis on mentoring supporting microfinance projects and creating employment opportunities. Our approach is based on creating strong partnerships among private sector companies, NGOs and our beneficiaries, pairing the best expertise with the best resources, and creating mutually beneficial relationships.
Our focus is to create self-perpetuating CSR projects that, slowly but surely, generate change in the community and bring others on board to increase the number of opportunities. Our recent CSR efforts exemplify these criteria. After analyzing and brainstorming with a number of NGOs, we decided that our efforts could be most beneficial directed at one area, allowing us to support development and empowerment within this community through a wholistic and comprehensive approach, rather than offering a scattered assortment of solutions for minor problems all over the Kingdom. We selected Al Koura, one of the poverty pockets in Jordan, and came up with a plan, which analyzed the community's priorities based on the needs assessment we conducted in the area, the issues which could be solved through systematic community change, and the organizations with the best expertise to implement our projects. We partnered with the eminent NGO, Tkiyet Um Ali, the only hunger relief initiative in the region, to further expand our support towards Al Koura residents. We provided food to families and schools in the district, building the first support layer which was much needed in the area. We later supported Tkiyet through projects empowering youth through sustainable projects such as Midyaf and Mashaweer.
In our partnership with Shabakat Al Ordon, a not for profit organization, supported by “We are all for Jordan youth Commission” and the Knowledge stations, we have established a network in Al Koura to implement a program that aims to enable youth to embrace their responsibility to make their communities better places for themselves and their families. The comprehensive program targets 260 young applicants from Al Koura, who go through the practical experience phase after completing the training phase of the program, during which they incubate projects that respond to their community needs and integrate information and communication technologies in the day-to-day lives of those communities
Our CSR is strongly embedded among our employees; through their direct involvement several campaigns were organized and implemented reaching families in Al Koura. Each campaign had a specific objective to include winter, eid al fitr, and back to school campaigns.
This combination of meeting immediate needs, eliciting input from locals, and creating training and employment opportunities within the community ensures sustainable development, our model will be emulated in the future to reach more communities and achieve the difference we are aiming for. Our most recent project involved the inauguration of a community library. The Group's annual gift in 2008 was a donation, in the name of their friends and partners, to develop the Nuqul Group Library in Al Koura, which will serve as a welcoming space to enhance community offerings for children and their families in literacy, knowledge improvement and activities. This library will later become a community base for individuals and Nuqul Group will tailor special activities
